Jeff Proctor
Honored in
Jeff Proctor is a founding director of Class VI River Runners, Inc in Lansing, West Virginia. In Jeff’s earlier role, he oversaw digital marketing, reservation system and software and IT duties. Post merger, Jeff continued to serve on the Management team as the COO, which oversaw a $10 million expansion, including 100 cabins, three restaurants, pool, TreeTops Canopy Tour and an assortment of adventure activities. Jeff managed the reservation staff, resort management, maintenance and grounds, food service and most expansion capital projects. He continued to assist staff who book vacation packages including meals, lodging and activities, the day-to-day operations and the quality and maintenance of the 240 acre campus.
Jeff received his B.S. in Forestry from the University of Montana in Missoula, Montana and served on the Board of Directors of America Outdoors, the National Outfitter Association from 1992-1998. He served on a three-year term (1999-2001) and completed serving a second two-year term on the Whitewater Commission, which oversees West Virginia’s commercial rafting industry. Jeff is presently on his fifth term and is Chairman for the Fayette County Urban Renewal Authority and the acting representative for the West Virginia Secretary of Commerce on the WV Broadband Enhancement Council. An Eagle Scout, Jeff is giving back to the Boy Scouts of America by serving as the Chairman of Advancement for the Seneca District of the Buckskin Counsel.
Jeff retired from Adventures On The Gorge July 1, 2018. Since that time, as a volunteer, he has focused his energy on Broadband. As a member of the West Virginia Broadband Enhancement Council and Fayette County Urban Renewal Authority, Jeff has worked tirelessly to expand broadband in the State and Fayette County.
Jeff started working in the whitewater industry in the early 70’s as a kayak and canoe counselor at Camp Falling Creek in Tuxedo, North Carolina. In the late 70’s he guided professionally and in 1978 started Class VI with his three other partners. Jeff has run rivers from Alaska to Chile.
Jeff married Janet MacKay in 1980 and has two sons, Carter, age 33 and Cullen age 27. Both their sons are Eagle Scouts too.
