Whether you are in the middle of your college search or several years away, Patrick will share practical advice to help you make the most out of the college search process.

Patrick O’Connor, Director of College Counseling, Collegewise

PatrickOConnorPatrick O’Connor is on the Political Science faculty of Oakland Community College and is Associate Dean of College Counseling at Cranbrook Schools, both in metropolitan Detroit. Born and raised in Detroit, he has been a college counselor since 1984, serving students in rural, urban, and suburban high schools, as well as community college. In addition to writing weekly columns at Huffington Post and HS Counselor Network, his writing has appeared in MyFootpath.com, The Christian Science Monitor, The Washington Post, The Detroit Free Press and Diverse: Issues in Higher Education. Patrick has served as president of the Michigan Association for College Admission Counseling, and the National Association for College Admission Counseling. He is on the board of directors of the Michigan College Access Network, and on the credentialing commission for the American Institute of Certified Educational Planners. He is a recipient of the Outstanding Faculty Award from Oakland Community College, the Margaret Addis Service to NACAC Award, and the William Gramenz Award (for outstanding contributions to college counseling in Michigan.) He holds five college degrees, including a Ph.D. in Education Administration.

College & Career Planning Center (CCPC)

The Mariemont City School’s College and Career Planning Center helps students navigate their post-secondary education and career options. The CCPC is a resource center staffed with a dedicated college counselor and resources such as test prep support and Naviance, a web-based career and college search tool. The CCPC counselors, programs and resources allow students and parents to feel confident and comfortable with the post-secondary choices. Click here to visit the CCPC website.

The Life and Leadership Series

The Life and Leadership Series is a collaboration between Mariemont City Schools and the Mariemont School Foundation to bring high-quality national experts and experiences to the district. The Series content is currently focused in the spotlight areas of College Planning, Leadership and Wellness. Funding for the series comes from Foundation grantors and donors. Your donation will help us sustain and expand the Life and Leadership Series to provide relevant and exceptional experiences for all district students.
